This August 28th is celebrated in Mexico the day of the grandfather , who is fundamental part in our lives. According to the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), between 30 and 50% of the people over 65, who are independent and living in their home, have suffered a year, at least one fall at home .
So, here we give you some advice, to protect and care for them, since they have done many years for us. So take notes and treat them as they deserve:
1. Install well secured bars to be held in showers and tubs, if necessary a place to sit.
2. Place non-slip mats in the showers, tubs and places of departure.
3. Preferably use liquid soap with dispenser and install it at the proper height, to prevent the older adult from leaning and falling through vertigo in the shower.
4. Put extra cushions on the seat of sofas or chairs, which allows them to sit and stand with less effort.
5. Prepare a family medicine box in which blood pressure meter, band Aid, heart beat meter and other necesities for their health in order to protect them.
6. For older adults, it is preferable that the furniture have arms.
If you add to this, a dose of love and care, so that they live in a safe and happy environment, their quality of life will improve, because it is in adulthood when people require more emotional reinforcers to feel good.
