Nails Weakened By Summer: How to Repair Them?

With the sand, the sea and the pool, the nails tend to be well damaged after the holidays. Here are some tips to protect them and restore their strength.

1. Moisturize your nails
In summer you have to be extra vigilant to keep pretty hands. The chlorinated water of the pools, the sand and salt water of the sea attack the nails and make them soft and brittle at the end of the summer.

It is therefore important to moisturize your nails with a nourishing cream to apply generously to the fingertips by massaging. You can also, once a week, opt for a restorative treatment or a strengthening oil. Another tip: make an oil bath by soaking your nails for a few minutes in a container containing a nourishing oil such as argan oil or jojoba.

2. Protect your hands from external aggressions
If your nails are damaged, the best is to protect them to the maximum for a few weeks, the time they regain their vitality. It is also advisable to avoid using acetone-based solvents that are too strong and aggressive to remove your nail polish. Also, remember to apply a protective basecoat before switching to color.

3. Fortify your nails
To find beautiful nails and have beautiful cuticles all year, you have to opt for a real background treatment. Thus, as soon as your nails seem fragile, that they are brittle, that they are duplicated or that they are soft, make regular care with vegetable oils. Apply for example castor oil massaging your nails with the nail art kit for a few minutes, it will grow faster and they will be stronger!

4. Make a manicure
You can take care of your nails by doing a manicure, but no question of choosing semi-permanent varnish or resin if they are already weakened. Opt instead for a tailor-made treatment: begin by filing them delicately, from the outside to the inside, without making too sudden a movement. However, avoid doing this just after taking a bath or shower: the water softens the nail which may break or crumble being filed. Then apply a  protective base also called base coat for a clean and clean effect.

5. Tips to repair his nails
If they are particularly dry and break, you can use a lemon to strengthen them. Just apply the juice of citrus on the nails (be careful if you have small cuts, the lemon can bite!). It is also possible to make a tailor-made care by mixing lemon juice, a pinch of salt and 50 cl of rose water. After allowing this mixture to rest for a day, use it to massage your nails every day for a week. Over time, your nails will regain their strength and will be brighter and more resistant.
